Hardware issues and memory cell wear
Memory chip is the most reliable part of a flash drive, however it has its own disadvantages tied with a number of rewrite cycles which equals to approximately 100,000 for modern models. In cheaper models this number is ten times lower. In case the rewrite cycle threshold is reached certain issues occur, mostly connected to inability to write new data and, as a result, inability to save or copy files (the number of bad sectors in these cases grows exponentially).
